Friction – Practice

1) A pet owner attempts to pull his reluctant dog out the front door. The co-efficient of friction between the dog and the floor is 0.35. The owner pulls on the dog with a force of 50N. Determine the force acting on the dog after friction has been considered.

2) A removalist pushes a lounge along his truck with a force of 100N. The resultant force after the friction of the truck is considered is 72N. What is the coefficient of friction in this example?

Quick Answers:

1) 32.5N in the direction the owner is pulling the dog!
